Won’t the fir bark fall out of the holes? Orchid bark “locks up” around the holes once it’s packed. Works great with small bark too - simply spread a thin layer of sphagnum moss around the pot before adding bark.
1. Remove orchid from old growing media (roots should be bare)

2. Place the plant in a pot just large enough for 2 years growth – don’t over pot!

3. Gently pour orchid bark into pot, making sure that it is well packed around roots

4. When the pot is full tamp the bark into the pot for good support and to eliminate voids

5. Water plant thoroughly
